Free Camp at FiDonce Basketball Gym: A Week of Fun and Learning
This past week, the Fidonce Basketball Gym was filled with laughter, energy, and learning as we hosted our free camp for local kids. Running from August 19-22, the camp offered a variety of activities designed to keep the children engaged and active throughout the afternoon.
From the moment the kids arrived, they were immersed in a range of exciting activities. Whether it was dribbling a basketball on the court, scoring goals during soccer matches, or diving into hands-on science experiments led by professors from Widener University, there was something for everyone. These activities not only provided a fun environment but also helped the kids develop teamwork and problem-solving skills. The camp favorite was certainly the classic Sharks and Minnows game, where competition and fun made it a great week!
With lunches purchased from Just Pizza and Duo Taco, every child enjoyed a delicious meal that kept them energized and focused throughout the day’s events.
This camp wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our dedicated staff and volunteers. Special thanks go to Coach Eric for providing the Fidonce Basketball Gym and running some fun basketball games, Volunteer Coach Colton for all of his fantastic work, and the Widener professors, Ria Mazumder, Nadine McHenry, and Liz DiScala, who made the STEM activities both educational and fun. Raina Kuzemka also played a key role in organizing and running the camp activities, ensuring that every child had a memorable experience. Jeannine Anckaitis stopped in on the last day and led some fun games.
Each kid also received a backpack full of school supplies in anticipation of the upcoming school year, courtesy of The Foundry Church in Wallingford.
