-On 10/21 from 9:30-12:30, all are encouraged to attend the gun violence forum at Wakings Center in Upper Darby.
Chester Eastside will soon host a harvest festival and chili cookoff. Check https://ceichester.org/events/ for details.
On 10/28 and 11/8, The Foundation for Delaware County will host information sessions about their upcoming Delco Gives event. Please see https://delcofoundation.org/ for details.
Our guest speakers, Dr. Nolan Fontaine and Ariza Nanji of the Good Energy Collaborative, led a discussion about solar energy and job creation in Chester. Here are some highlights:
The Good Energy Collaborative is trying to use the growing green economy to help address social and environmental justice issues.
They create and host workshops to educate and provide access to healthy and sustainable employment paths including solar apprenticeships.
One goal is to help people transfer skills from jobs to entrepreneurial enterprises. They aim to inspire people from the community to think, “What else could we do with solar power?”
They are looking for partners to secure new locations and generate new audiences for their education sessions and job fairs. Their target demographics are high schoolers and young adults.
They are also encouraging outreach from anyone with recommendations for buildings that want to be solarized.
