Zoom Dance Party Raises the Roof! - and Over $2500

CUYS Family Engagement events typically involve kids, parents, guardians, Site Directors and Coach-Mentors coming together to have a great time. This fall’s event was no difference, except that it took place in lots of locations rather than just one.

Our “Zoom from Your Room” Dance Party, hosted by Chester musician and DJ Bryan Parr, was a high-energy affair in which the kids showed their best dance moves, making the most of the light-up sunglasses, pompoms and other whimsical gear included in their individual party packs along with a variety of healthy snacks.

The kids seemed to enjoy watching each other dance and engaging with each other as much as the screen would allow. In the Zoom chat, attendee Amanda wrote “I love this party!” Chris and Ayden were among those who responded “Me too!” Marcus used his new light-up mini white board to share with everyone “I’m having so much fun!” while Mrs. Jody Zamonski, a teacher and CUYS Site Director at Stetser Elementary, commented playfully, “The dance party was lit!”

Twenty individuals stepped up to donate to Chester Upland Youth Soccer in honor or this fun event, and Crozer Health generously served as Gold Sponsor. In total, $2586 was collected and will be applied to positive life experiences for the children.

Anyone interested in contributing to the Zoom Dance Party campaign is still welcome to do so at https://donorbox.org/zoom-dance-party

Special thanks also go to Wawa, the Philadelphia Union, the Philadelphia Phillies, Home Depot, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Widener University for providing donor appreciation prizes that were gratefully received by a random selection of our most generous supporters.
