Soccer Saturdays 2021 Off to a Great Start

On Saturday, March 13th, Chester Upland Youth Soccer returned to the field for the first time since Fall of 2019. This first “Soccer Saturday” of the season was a huge success thanks to our hard-working, big-hearted Site Directors and volunteers.

Over 30 kids from Kindergarten to 7th grade attended, participating in soccer drills, scrimmages and other fun.

Thanks to a truly amazing group of volunteers from The Haverford School, Strath Haven High School, Amachi Chester and the Delco Iotas, local educators from CUSD, CCSA and CCCS and other supporters including Marty and Meredith Molloy and Michelle Midgette, we provided two and a half hours of live soccer fun for the kids and their parents and guardians, including games and prizes provided by Camilo and Dan from the Philadelphia Union. We also gave out 160 books provided by the Kara Barnard Fund for Youth Literacy, 40 boxes of groceries from Chester Eastside Inc., 35 bags of post-soccer snacks from Lifewerks and 105 articles of athletic apparel provided by Good Sports.

Huge thanks to our team who made our opening Soccer Saturday so special: Amanda Anckaitis, Andrew Poolman, Asher Laackman, Camilo Villavicencio, Claire Ross, Dan Keefe, Duane M. Buchanan, Elise Molloy, Jamar Daniels, Jody Zamonski, Kelly Nagle, Luke Macaione, Oliver Steinglass, Rosalie Midgette, Rose Matich, Sam Kohl, Thomas Kaplan, Trent Davis, Will Kendall, Yolanda Jackson, Paul Stinson, Sara Long, Andrew Kirwan, William Beifeld, Joseph Pennewill, Damien Najdek and Leland. Every non-profit should be so lucky as to have such motivated and friendly helpers like you!
