Partnerships Provide a Bounty

Howdy, partners! This post celebrates the significant impact that partnerships have had on Chester Upland Youth Soccer during the spring season.

  • Good Sports, a national organization focused on equitable access in youth sports and physical activity, selected CUYS to make equipment and apparel donations available to the children of Greater Chester. Recently, Coach-Mentors helped to distribute Good Sports shipments of athletic shirts, shorts, and sports bras to the grateful soccer players at Stetser Elementary and Main Street Elementary.

  • Because of the generosity of a caring individual, the children of Main Street Elementary were also given the opportunity to choose and wrap a hand-selected piece of donated costume jewelry to bring home as a Mother’s Day gift. Site Director Ms. Yolanda Jackson reported, “The kids were so excited to get the jewelry for their moms and grandmoms. Thank you!”

  • CUYS’ ongoing collaborations with Lifewerks and Mitzvah Circle generates a monthly delivery of groceries, diapers and wipes to Chester Charter Scholars Academy and Eddystone Elementary.

  • A Wallingford soccer mom recently donated cleats to CUYS players who needed them for tryouts with the Union’s prestigious Player Pathway Program. Learning more about CUYS’ after-school Soccer for Success program, she started a snack drive in her community, and posted a wish list that directs even more snack donations to Widener Partnership Charter School and Eddystone Elementary. Susanne Cianfaro, who helped to bring our program to WPCS, expressed, “Thank you so much. They will definitely be put to good use.”

  • Earlier in the year, we partnered with local Girl Scouts and Teachers’ Teammates to bring feminine products to CUYS families.
