CUYS Plays Street Soccer at Chester's Food Festival
On Sept 15, the Chester community enjoyed perfect weather for its third food festival in a seasonal series.
"The office of the City of Chester coordinated this event to celebrate the community and continue to build opportunities for people to have great experiences with Chester's businesses and organizations." explained Amanda Johnson, Communication Director and Press Secretary for the Office of the Mayor.
This month, the festival theme was “Family Affair.” Many families came out to enjoy a variety of free, fun activities at the 400 block of the Avenue of the States near the food providers and other vendors on the 500 block.
Ms. Jackson and Coach Chris led “Street Soccer” for dozens of children who enjoyed trying out their skills in this special environment. They also enjoyed live Karaoke, face painting, jump roping, and free water ice as well as engagement opportunities from Keep Music Alive, Crozer Library, Team STRIVE and AMACHI Group.
CUYS’s next Soccer Saturday will take place on Sept 23, at Widener University’s varsity games. CUYS kids are invited to walk the players onto the field in new free t-shirts. The men's team will play at 1pm and the women's team will play at 4pm. All are welcome.
