Mini Golf Fundraiser Brings in Over $5,000
In an experiment deemed successful, CUYS turned the traditional non-profit golf outing on its head and held a fundraiser at Delcoland Mini Golf on Friday night. The light-hearted event entertained more than 50 people, bringing in over 30 donations with a grand total of more than $5,000. These funds will help cover after-school and weekend soccer programming expenses for nearly 600 children of Chester, Upland and Eddystone during the school year starting this fall.
Hole sponsors included 122 Consulting Group, Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig LLP, Front Street Properties, Juniata Men’s Soccer, Penn Fusion and Roe Fabricators.
Longtime staff member Ms. Yolanda Jackson was in attendance, helping her dynamic 81-year old father serve as the DJ. A handful of CUYS families were invited as honored guests; some had never mini-golfed before and really enjoyed it, along with the coloring books, bubbles and sidewalk chalk provided to the children in attendance.
The event included a traditional Delco dinner of cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, and fries, plus desserts and adult beverages. Five raffle baskets and three silent auction items helped add to the total funds raised.
Five local middle and high school students, all 1776 United FC soccer players, assisted with setup and takedown, selling raffle tickets, and providing direction to attendees with any questions. Further donations of time and money are always gratefully accepted.
CUYS intends to make this an annual event.
