Get Your Soccer Fix

Summer of Soccer!

Other than yesterday’s Olympic game, this has been a great summer for soccer so far. We are working hard with the kids of Greater Chester, and we even have opportunities for you to get your fill:

  • Saturday, July 24 from 10:45-1:30 — Join CUYS families for outdoor fun and a picnic at Swarthmore College’s Scott Arboretum. Click here for details.

  • Sunday, July 25 at 7:30pm — Cheer on the Philadelphia Union in a cool indoor/outdoor venue. Click here for details.

  • Thursdays through August 19 at 3:15-4:30 — Play soccer with kids attending Making a Change Group’s family summer programming. Click here for details.

  • Let us know if you are interested in volunteering to support our work with Chester Eastside, Better Tomorrows, Knowledge Points, ESF Camps and our other efforts to maximize soccer opportunities for Greater Chester youth as we try to make up for lost time due to the pandemic.

CUYS Proves “Secret Weapon” for Union

On June 23rd, Subaru Park opened to a full capacity crowd for the first time since before the pandemic. The atmosphere was rocking, partly thanks to the 40 CUYS families in attendance, and the Union defeated the visiting Columbus Crew 1-0. A big thank you to the Union for the complimentary tickets offered to our program. We’ve been invited back in August and intend to help lead the team to victory again.

Zoom Camp a Huge Success

Despite rumors of Zoom fatigue, we had a great turnout for an awesome three-day Zoom camp which included music, gardening, story time with Holcomb Behaviorial Health Services, and, of course, soccer! Each camper received home delivery of healthy groceries and a camp bag ball containing a journal, gardening equipment, books and musical instruments, thanks to Swarthmore Hardware, Lifewerks, Kara Barnard Literacy Fund, the Chester Community Coalition, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and generous individual supporters like you.
